How we design your off-grid system
Designing an off-grid solar installation starts with understanding your energy needs and matching them with the right system components.
Calculating your power requirements
We calculate all the appliances and devices you plan to use and how many hours per day you’ll use them. Include things like:
· Lights
· Refrigeration
· Fans or air conditioning
· Washing machines, dish washers, tumble dryers
· TVs and computers
· Tools or machinery
Add up the wattage of each device × hours used daily to find your total daily energy usage in watt-hours (Wh).
Sizing of the battery bank
Your batteries store the energy from your solar panels for use at night or on cloudy days.
· Multiply your daily energy usage by the number of backup days you want (e.g., 2–3 days).
· Factor in battery efficiency (usually around 85%) and depth of discharge (typically 80% for lithium batteries).
Example: If you use 5,000 kWh per day and want 2 days of storage, you’ll need at least 12,000 kWh (or 12 kWh) of battery capacity.
We offer free consultations and custom designs to make sure your system is safe, efficient, and suited to your needs. Whether you're powering a tiny cabin or a full home, our team can help guide you every step of the way.
